Amazing Grace in Your Face

I'm starting a music blog, mostly for kicks and hopefully sharing what I find with you all

What’s goin on? (what’s goin on)

Ever ask yourself “What’s goin on?”

I have been. Y’all, life is crazy and I’m a bad blogger, this is probably my fourth “excuse for not posting” post. However, I’m pursuing a field that involves a lot of writing and I need to step up my blogging game this summer. I have one more final this week and then it’s all music all the time for me! I will be a more faithful lover to music, meanwhile if any of you have suggestions for new tunes, PLEASE let a sister know!

I leave you, for a short while, in good hands.

Noah Gundersen

I feel like I’ve struck gold. I was introduced to Noah Gundersen’s music today and I’m intoxicated by it. His talent is clear. His voice is strong with a hint of rasp that grabs you in the melodic turns throughout his songs. He’s a great guitarist; He and the guitar blend together so perfectly. It convinces me that they belong together. These aren’t even my favorite things about Noah’s music. When I was listening to “Jesus Jesus” I just thought to myself “I’ve found a songwriter.” A real songwriter. I love his perspective in that song. It’s simple but crystal clear and well put. The man makes his point. That is what has a hold on me about this music.

In his song “Cigarettes” here he introduces what he was thinking when he wrote it and it’s cleaver as well as beautiful. The post-chorus bridge shows off his vocal talent as well.

“Jesus Jesus” is an amazing perspective song. I love trying to see things from other people’s view points and this song is a perfect portrait of how he feels.

“Caroline” is just a gorgeous love song. Period.

Please check Mr. Gunderson out. I’ve heard his songs are used in the show “Sons of Anarchy” so if you watch that you may already be familiar. I’d also highly highly recommend his Ballard Sessions which are on youtube too.

Hope you’re all well and ready for the holidays. I’ve been away from tumblr for a while but hopefully I can balance this with the rest of everything. I’m learning this whole time management thing and I have to say, not a big fan of it; but it is helpful. Anyway, please enjoy the music, thanks to all of you.

College

Unfortunately kids, I have been caught in a storm of tests, presentations, and papers lately and haven’t been on my blogging game. I’m going to keep blogging but at a slower pace than I had when this began. I hope you all can be patient with me, more than that I hope you’re liking what I put out there on this blog. Thanks to all of you, and I leave you with some fantastic electro/vocal magic by Jai Paul:

King Charles

King Charles is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and, just a great man.

I learned through old myspace logs that he had written that he had been in a bad skiing accident years ago and it changed the way he looked at life. He has a depth to his thoughts and words that can only come through life experience and thoughtful consideration of that experience.

The music of King Charles widely varies from rock-heavy to pop vibes to reggae. But there’s a consistency of character in his music. He uses the reoccurring themes of the battle between love and lust, deep desire for someone, and eternal love (he’s a very romantic guy).

His album’s title track, “Loveblood” may seem like a light bubbly love song, with its chanting chorus  ”Well I got love in my blood And I got you on my brain I haven’t got enough blood I cannot love you enough.” but shows a deeper desire of union in its verse, “I give my flesh and all it’s ambition I give you my love and all of it’s vision.”

“Lady Percy” with its playful lyrics and beat seems to have a optimistic outlook on being ignored “Ohh I know Lady Percy will never come to my show.”

My favorite off of his ep and album has to be “Love Lust”. This is the song that got me hooked on this man, with a great video as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN_cOsjErDE

These, along with several other equally original songs, make up King Charles’ debut album, “Looveblood” which I have been enjoying for a while now.

Over all, King Charles is an ideal musician and songwriter. He absolutely adores music. It is clear to me that it is his greatest love. He puts on a great live show with his band. And best of all,
