Amazing Grace in Your Face

"We are a kinda good band" ~ Blitzen Trapper

Thirsty Man - Blitzen Trapper

Shout out to early 2000’s me and bad-ass string music.

Dance Dance - The Vitamin String Quartet does Fall Out Boy

I know this may be old news to a lot of you, but even if it is, this is truly one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard and I’ve been listening for a long time now.

The Middle East - Blood

It gets me every time.

Mental picture for you to create while this song plays: Me leaning against my doorframe in my underwear looking at the rain in my backyard early this morning, thinking about how things have changed since I came here.

The Head and the Heart - Rivers and Roads (Doe Bay Session)

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros’ new video for “Life Is Hard”

This is amazing.

I can’t talk about it right now.

They did everything right.

Than you, Klsu DJ, for trying to find this for me this morning.

Miniature Tigers - Boomerang

Fun, experimental, reminiscent of MGMT and other bands whose names escape me.

Hurray for the Riff Raff - Full live set at The Art House in New Orleans.

This band is serious good. Give the folk/cajun/rock mix a chance.

Sometimes I’m sure I’m Jim Croce

Seth Avett & Bob Crawford - Operator (Jim Croce cover)

The Oh Hellos (Free Album)

Welcome to The Oh Hellos. Their album “Through The Deep Dark Valley” has kept me in good company this summer during my travels and has been part of healing process that I can’t be thankful enough for.

The music works so well as a whole. Folk elements mix with soft riffs and heavy strings and give it a really full sound. It’s such a satisfying construction when it hits the listener.

The songs are comprised of sincerity and lessons learned. They’re a chronicle of growth and admitting past mistakes without focusing on regret or shame. “Wishing Well” apologizes for straying from a father. “In Memoriam” celebrates the strong love and faithfulness of that father despite the unworthiness on the writers part.

Wishing Well

In Memoriam

The album balances soft, contemplative songs (Like The Dawn, Wishing Well) and more dramatic, powerful songs like “The Valley” and “The Truth Is A Cave”.

"The Truth…" and "Valley (reprise)" fade into each other in full glory. It feels like a victory every time I hear it.

"I Was Wrong" is so beautiful and transparent. I’ve never found all the apologetic love songs on the radio make such an appeal to the heart.

Fortunately I can share this music with you for free! Please give it a chance, I really can’t stop saying good things about it and this band deserves some exposure.
